A.R.I. - VHF & Up Manager Coordinator

The Contest has been organised by A.R.I. to commemorate,as a Man and as a Scientist,
GUGLIELMO MARCONI.
1) PARTICIPANTS: All radio amateurs with regular permit to transmit. Participants have to operate in compliance
with the rules and the spirit of the contest using an output power not greater than that permitted by their country license.
2) SECTIONS: There are 2 categories :
• SINGLE OPERATOR: Stations operated by only one operator for the entire period of the contest.
• MULTI OPERATOR: All other entrants.No more than one transmitter ,or transmitting device, may be used at the same
time.
A station must operate from the same site for all the contest time.
3) CONTACTS: Each station can be worked only once. The double qso must be marked and identified on the log and
the score awarded will be zero. Contacts made via repeaters or EME will not be considered as valid.
4) BAND and MODE: QSO must be only 2-way on A1A (CW) mode on 144 MHz band only, respecting the IARU
Reg. 1 Band Plan.
5) EXCHANGES: The stations have to send the RST and Serial Number starting with 001, followed by the full WWL
locator (Example: 599023 JN65RW.)
6) SCORE: One point will be charged for each kilometer in the qrb of the qso.. The final score obtained with the sum
of each qso score should be indicated in your log entry.
7) LOG: Logs will be accepted only in electronic format. The logs must be submitted with all complete data summaries,
by email, only in .EDI format, and the file must be named with your callsign (eg. IZ4YDN.EDI)
8) ENTRIES : Logs must be sent only to the National VHF Manager or National VHF Contest Manager not later than
the second Monday following the contest weekend (November 18th ). Late entries will not be accepted. The submission
of the logs implies that the entrant accepts all the IARU contest rules.
Photos, comments and remarks about the contest will be appreciated and they will be published on internet and
magazines.
All national managers have to send all collected logs to mmc_vhf@ari.it not later than 7th Sunday after contest
date (December 22nd 2013).
9) JUDGING OF ENTRIES : The judging of entries is carried out by the MMC Contest Committee, whose decision
shall be final, participants can ask information about errors. Entrants deliberately contravening any of the rules
disregarding the IARU Region 1 band plans shall be disqualified. Errors in the callsign and contest exchanges or with a
delay time more than 10minutes will be penalized by reducing the score claimed for the pertaining contact.
10) FINAL CLASSIFICATIONS :The Committee will perform full computer cross checks on all the received logs
and will publish the final results not later than the fourteenth Sunday after the contest on their web site (February 9th
2014).
A List of received logs (with callsign and category) will be published on ARI Bologna web-site at the end of January.
The list of results should include at least the following data: Callsign, Locator, Score, number of QSOs, number of
deleted QSOs, percentage of deleted points, ODX call sign, ODX Locator and ODX QRB.
ARI Bologna will publish the official results on their web site and send the results to the ARI VHF Manager to send to
Webmaster of the IARU Region I web site for publication. These results shall also be sent in electronic format to all
VHF Managers and/or Contest Committees of Societies who sent logs and also to the Chairman of Region 1
VHF/UHF/Microwave Committee, not later five months after the contest took place (April 6th 2014).
11) AWARDS : The 3 (three) top scores of each section will be prized “ MARCONI PLATE” by ARI Bologna.
